The story follows the journey of Seb, a boy who loves to read aloud — but no one ever seems to listen, especially not his family. One day, he spots a notice pinned to the village board: 'Elderly Blind Retired Sea – would like boy to read aloud daily.'

Taking it at face value (the original notice actually read Elderly Blind Retired Sea Captain would like boy to read aloud daily,  but the notice was worn and torn ?) Seb packs his books and sets off on an adventure to read to the Sea itself! ?
